With over 150 years of history in business, the Ashram family has managed to survive economic and political turbulence in Egypt and the Middle East with extensive capacity to adapt, foresee, and seize distinct investments.

With a Commercial Registration, number 7, to the entire Egyptian economy, Abdel Gelil El Ashram, has placed the Ashram family name as a pioneer within Egyptian trade.  Originating from the heart of Egyptian trade in Al-Azhar, Sayed Abdel Gelil El Ashram has marked the Ashram name as the leader in the finest cotton in the world, Egyptian Cotton, and expanding the reputation to all areas of Egypt.

At the age of 9, Sami Sayed  Abdel Gelil El Ashram, began his training in his extensive journey in business with his grandfather.  By 17, Sami El Ashram began his own private business where by the age of 21 he had surpassed the coverage and volume and his own father.  By the age of 24, he began expanding from trade to industry, by creating his first textile mill in Cairo, where he later expanded his industrial facilities to Lebanon and Morocco, and back to Egypt with 6 mill spanning over 70,000 square meters in the heart of Alexandria, Egypt.

With his successful entrepreneurial business model and a unique vision of the future, Sami El Ashram expanded over the years into multiple industries, always as a pioneer and leader.  Starting in the early 60’s, development began in Cairo, Egypt with urban development and housing projects, and later expanding into the rest of Egypt with touristic developments.

Within his sixty years in the business arena, Sami El Ashram, has managed a pioneering position and in most cases, a leader, in numerous industries: Textile trade, textile milling, textile weaving, Free zone trade, urban development, housing, touristic development, floating hotels & Nile cruises,  touristic transport including vehicle rentals/sales, ostrich farming, agriculture, as well as oil & gas exploration.
